How to sustain a family, and grow a legacy

Monday mornings in sales are like going fishing.  Getting out the door is the hardest part and you never know what you may land that will sustain you and your family. After a mundane trip to the Cape to do a quote and visit real estate offices I sat in my favorite spot on the SS Nantucket for the trip back. I hope that I can give credit to my friendly face as it was my luck that another friendly faced gentlemen asked if he could sit across the table from me for the 45 minute voyage.  It was my privilege.  He briefly explained his executive level job that was bringing him to Martha's Vineyard, but what caught my attention, and what he was most proud of, was his family.  This 60 something has 7 children, ages 40 to 15months ! If you met him you would understand .He is delightful, insightful, generous and loving. He told me that all of his children are lawyers or in law school, one is a very high level judge, the baby is learning to play piano.  I asked him his secret. He told me that for the last 20 years, no matter what, they have a conference call on Sunday and they each talk about their lives and needs, and what they can GIVE. They weigh each others needs and decide, as a family, whose needs are the most immediate and who should receive the resources that are available. They are debt free, they share.
